Job Description
Job Title: Process Technician, Packaging and Assembly. Location: Fremont, California, USA
This role is hands-on and based in a cleanroom environment, working closely with engineers and scientists across multiple teams; The position follows an afternoon shift schedule from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily assembly and packaging operations in a Class 100 cleanroom
- Handle die pick from wafer using die maps, inspection reports, and electrical test results
- Operate tools for plasma cleaning, flip-chip bonding, adhesive die attach, and wire bonding
- Conduct wire pull tests and visual inspections using optical microscopes;
- Set up equipment, create and manage process recipes, and support part rework
- Inspect incoming and outgoing parts and provide feedback for yield improvement
- Follow standard operating procedures, packaging diagrams, and written instructions
- Maintain detailed documentation after all assembly and packaging steps
- Perform equipment calibration and monitor process control using SPC methods
- Identify and report sample or process issues in a timely manner;
- Use ESD precautions, tweezers, and microscopes to ensure damage-free handling
- Communicate clearly with morning and afternoon shift technicians during handoff
- Support other fabrication modules as a backup technician when required
Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, or 3 or more years of hands-on semiconductor or MEMS fabrication experience
- Practical experience with assembly and packaging tools such as wire bonders, die attach systems, epoxy dispensers, and flip-chip tools
- Experience with wafer preparation tools like wafer mounting and die ejection is a plus;
- Ability to operate and manage multiple machines in parallel
- Strong hand-eye coordination and ability to work with optical microscopes for extended periods
- Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment, including hazmat handling and ESD protocols
- Experience working in small or large fabrication facilities
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing work environments;
- Strong attention to detail and comfort with computer-based tracking systems
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs
Compensation and Benefits:
- Hourly pay range: $42 to $50 per hour
