Product Management Director - Software

Job Description

Job Title: Product Management Director - Open Source Software. Location: United States, Remote

Responsibilities:

• Own the product roadmap and execution for PennyLane, Xanadu's open-source software framework for quantum machine learning and quantum computing.
• Translate product vision into a sequenced and measurable roadmap aligned with developer and market needs.
• Break strategy into workstreams, specifications, milestones, and execution plans.
• Lead the weekly cross-functional execution process to keep teams shipping.
• Own developer experience and adoption from onboarding and activation through retention and growth.
• Define and track metrics related to developer adoption, engagement, and product growth;
• Work with engineering teams to shape APIs, developer experience, technical architecture, and integrations across the quantum software stack.
• Lead go-to-market activities, including product launches, positioning, documentation, tutorials, and community releases.
• Grow PennyLane's community among developers, students, and industry researchers.
• Plan and manage phased rollouts, including beta programs, staged releases, and feature-gated launches.
• Gather user feedback and use it to improve product delivery before general availability;
• Report regularly to leadership on product adoption, developer engagement, roadmap progress, and business performance.
• Hire, coach, and lead a product management team as the organization's scope expands.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, research, product, and business teams.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in technical product management, developer product management, or a closely related technical role.
• Experience in open-source software, cloud computing, AI/ML, deep tech, or a related technical field.
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated ability to operationalize an existing product vision by decomposing, sequencing, and delivering against a roadmap;
• Proven experience leading go-to-market activities for technical or developer-focused products and driving measurable adoption.
• Experience partnering with software engineering teams on roadmaps, technical tradeoffs, and product strategy.
• Experience working in both large organizations and fast-moving growth-stage companies.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional project management skills.

Preferred:

• Experience launching and scaling open-source developer tools, SDKs, or enterprise deep-tech platforms.
• Experience managing and leading product teams, particularly at Director or Group Product Manager level.
• Familiarity with quantum computing concepts.
• Familiarity with PennyLane or classical machine learning frameworks.
