Quantum Engineer, Design Calibration

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Engineer, Design Calibration. Location: Berkeley, CA or Fremont, CA

Responsibilities:

• Improve correlation between room-temperature metrology data and processor performance at cryogenic temperatures using experimental investigations, theoretical approaches, and numerical modeling of Josephson junctions;
• Apply statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to calibrate processor design parameters using large datasets from quantum processor measurements and monitoring devices;
• Design and implement robust software infrastructure to provide streamlined feedback between measurement results and the integrated circuit design team.
• Collaborate with Rigetti’s quantum foundry engineers to monitor and improve fabrication yield, identifying the best candidate processors for testing and deployment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Master’s degree in quantum information science or 4+ years of relevant work experience.
• Strong background in statistics and large dataset analysis;
• Knowledge of circuit theory and electrical circuit design/analysis.
• Proficiency in Python for scientific applications, ideally in a collaborative or industry setting.
• Experience working with experimentalists to analyze and interpret experimental data.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to Have:

• PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge or experience in superconducting physics, Josephson junctions, RF engineering, integrated circuit design, circuit QED, or superconducting qubits.
• Industry or startup technical experience.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Base salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 annually, with final compensation based on experience, skills, and location.
