Quantum Engineer , Device Test & Measurement

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Engineer II, Device Test & Measurement. Location: New Haven, CT, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Design and perform microwave, electrical, and cryogenic measurements for quantum device characterization.
  • Develop and execute experiments to validate advanced quantum device concepts.
  • Analyze device performance data to identify key characteristics and contributing factors;
  • Maintain and optimize cryogenic and measurement systems to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop and improve automation pipelines for experiments and data analysis.
  • Identify issues in procedures or tools and implement practical improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support device evaluation and feedback into development cycles.
  • Maintain clear documentation of methods, results, and datasets;
  • Support improvement of experimental workflows and measurement systems.

Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with superconducting quantum devices, device physics, and measurement techniques.
  • Strong background in DC and RF measurements and cryogenic systems;
  • Proficiency in scientific programming for instrument control, data acquisition, and automation.
  • Strong ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and propose practical solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary physics and engineering teams.

Preferred:

  • Experience with experiment automation and data analysis pipelines.
  • Familiarity with superconducting qubit systems and device testing environments.
  • Exposure to large-scale quantum system validation and measurement frameworks.
