Quantum Error Correction Metrologist

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Error Correction Metrologist, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA

Job Type: Research Scientist, Full-Time

Responsibilities:

  • Design, conceptualize, and execute experiments to identify and isolate physical error mechanisms affecting quantum error correction performance.
  • Develop and maintain data analysis tools for processing large, high-dimensional quantum error correction datasets.
  • Analyze experimental results to improve understanding of qubit behavior and error dynamics;
  • Collaborate with qubit design teams to integrate new approaches that reduce error sources in quantum systems.
  • Work with theory and modeling teams to co-design experiments supported by predictive physical models.
  • Contribute to research output through publications, conferences, and public dissemination of findings.
  • Set up large-scale experimental tests and rapidly prototype new ideas for quantum error correction systems.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong experience using Python for data acquisition and analysis.
  • At least one scientific publication or submission in a peer-reviewed journal or conference (e.g., Physical Review, Nature, npj, AAAS, or similar venues).

Preferred:

  • Experience with control and characterization of quantum devices.
  • Hands-on experience executing quantum error correction experiments.
  • Strong publication record or active participation in major scientific conferences;
  • Experience working in collaborative research environments across theory, modeling, and experimental teams.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Base salary range: $147,000 to $211,000 annually (US-based role).
  • Additional compensation may include bonus, equity, and benefits.
