Job Title: Quantum Hardware Staff Research Scientist. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, USA

Job Type: Professional, Full-Time, Onsite (Research Role)

Responsibilities:

• Conduct experimental investigations of IBM quantum hardware systems.
• Correlate device performance with theoretical models and simulation results.
• Identify fidelity-limiting mechanisms in quantum devices;
• Propose new research directions to improve quantum computing performance.
• Work independently while contributing to a large, multidisciplinary research team.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to advance quantum hardware capabilities.
• Analyze experimental data to support hardware performance improvements.
• Contribute to the design and evaluation of quantum device architectures.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics or a related field.
• Postdoctoral or professional experience in experimental quantum computing.
• Strong ability to conduct independent scientific research;
• Experience working in collaborative research environments.

Preferred:

• Research background in superconducting qubits.
• Experience in layout and simulation of quantum devices.
• Strong understanding of quantum hardware performance modeling.
• Ability to connect experimental results with theoretical predictions.

Benefits and Compensation:

• Annual salary range: $198,000 to $268,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
