Job Description
Position: Senior Research Scientist, Quantum. Location: Goleta, CA, USA
Responsibilities:
- Perform electromagnetic modeling of superconducting quantum chips and packaging.
- Use EM simulation tools (e.g., HFSS) to predict quantum gate fidelities and analyze coupling and chip modes.
- Quantify surface loss and its impact on qubit relaxation time (T1).
- Develop and maintain software linking simulations with the quantum hardware design workflow;
- Collaborate with design and fabrication teams to optimize chip coherence and gate operations;
- Present research findings in internal reviews and at external scientific conferences or journals.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
- Background in electromagnetic modeling or electromagnetic theory.
- Hands-on experience with superconducting qubits.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of computational electromagnetics.
- Experience designing microwave components and packaging.
- Understanding of condensed matter physics and quantum gates;
- Proficiency in Python programming.
- Experience collaborating with experimental physicists or engineers.

- Base salary range: $166,000–$244,000 (based on level, location, and experience)
