Job Description

Job Title: Research Scientist, Quantum Methods, Quantum AI. Location: Goleta, CA, USA

The position bridges abstract quantum protocols and the physical realities of noisy quantum systems; The work is highly experimental and centered on validating performance improvements on real hardware in large-scale quantum experiments.

Responsibilities:

• Research, develop, and experimentally validate novel error mitigation and suppression methods
• Implement both gate-based digital techniques and pulse-level analog techniques
• Prototype and stress-test new performance enhancement strategies in high-impact experimental settings
• Improve processor fidelity and scalability for complex quantum applications;
• Design and execute large-scale experimental benchmarks to measure real-world performance gains
• Collaborate with theory and experimental teams to ensure results are robust and reproducible
• Contribute to flagship projects focused on scaling multi-qubit system performance

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, Quantum Information, or a related experimental field, or equivalent practical experience
• Hands-on experience performing experiments on quantum hardware
• Experience using Python for experimental control and data analysis

Preferred:

• Experience with Hamiltonian simulation or complex quantum application benchmarks
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing complex hardware-software interfaces in laboratory environments
• Expertise in advanced error mitigation and suppression techniques;
• Strong understanding of noisy quantum systems, including error modeling and characterization
• Proven record of high-impact experimental research in scaling multi-qubit performance

Benefits and Compensation:

• Base salary range of $141,000 to $202,000 for US locations
