Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Architecture Research Software Lead. Location: Multiple Countries (Remote/Hybrid depending on role setup)
Job Type: Full-Time, Manager / Supervisor
Responsibilities:
- Lead the vision and development of software simulation tools for quantum architecture prototyping, optimization, and benchmarking.
- Drive improvements in scalability and performance of quantum architecture systems, particularly at the logical (quantum error correction) layer.
- Design and maintain tools for simulating quantum architectures under different logical circuits, layouts, protocols, codes, decoders, and noise models.
- Enable large-scale simulations of fault-tolerant quantum systems under realistic error conditions;
- Manage and coordinate teams including research software developers, engineers, and project contributors.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across quantum architecture and research groups.
- Leverage existing tools while initiating new software projects as needed.
- Ensure proper integration of measurement-based quantum computation and logical architecture components.
- Oversee project planning, execution, and prioritization across multiple parallel initiatives.
- Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- MSc or PhD in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Several years of experience in research or industry in quantum software or quantum error correction.
- Strong experience in Python and object-oriented programming.
- Experience working with quantum error correction tools and frameworks;
- Background in high-performance computing, including parallelized and optimized code for clusters or supercomputers.
- Strong software engineering practices including testing, CI/CD, version control, and documentation.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
- PhD, postdoctoral, or industry experience in quantum physics or quantum technologies.
- Familiarity with public quantum error correction tooling ecosystems.
- Experience with low-level programming languages such as C or C++;
- Knowledge of measurement-based quantum computation and optical quantum computing platforms.
- Understanding of GKP codes and continuous-variable quantum systems.
