Job Description
Job Title: Senior Quantum Simulation Engineer. Location: Santa Barbara, California, United States
Job Type: Full-Time, Individual Contributor (Hybrid, 3 days onsite)
Responsibilities:
- Develop and refine simulation models for quantum device behavior and qubit error processes.
- Define and implement error models for quantum systems and operations.
- Validate simulation results against experimental and real-world data;
- Improve accuracy and performance of quantum simulation tools.
- Build and maintain simulation libraries and modeling frameworks.
- Run large-scale simulations for qubit networks and system scalability analysis.
- Translate simulation outputs into actionable design recommendations;
- Collaborate with quantum hardware, measurement, and error correction teams.
- Support development of AI-assisted tools for quantum experimentation workflows.
- Communicate technical findings across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field with 6+ years experience
OR Master’s degree with 4+ years experience
OR PhD with 1+ years experience; - Experience in research or development environments related to quantum or advanced computing systems.
- Strong background in numerical modeling and simulation.
Technical Requirements:
- Experience with quantum device modeling and error processes.
- Knowledge of quantum computing systems and qubit behavior.
- Ability to work in high-performance computing environments.
- Strong programming skills in Python or similar languages.
Preferred:
- Research experience in quantum computing (academic or commercial).
- Knowledge of quantum error correction and qubit error models.
- Experience modeling open quantum systems.
- Familiarity with large-scale simulation frameworks;
- Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with collaborative software development.
