Job Title: Research Scientist – Pathfinding Architecture Development. Location: Goleta, CA, USA

As a Research Scientist on the Pathfinding Architecture Development team, you will help design and test the next generation of qubit systems; Your work will involve experimental operations, simulations, & the development of architectures that reduce error and improve speed and reliability; You will also collaborate with leading research institutes and contribute to the global quantum research community.

Responsibilities:

• Optimize qubit designs to enhance coherence while reducing crosstalk.
• Develop architectures for faster qubit gate operations, readout, and reset.
• Use programmatic tools to layout large-scale 2D qubit arrays;
• Perform electromagnetic simulations of circuit components;
• Collaborate with fabrication and measurement teams to implement and test new designs.
• Rapidly prototype and test new hardware ideas across real-world setups.
• Publish and share findings with the global research community and academic partners.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
• Hands-on experience with experimental operation of quantum systems

Preferred:

• Experience working with superconducting circuits
• Familiarity with qubit systems, couplers, and readout/reset circuits
• Knowledge of quantum circuit modeling;
• Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools;
• Background in RF or microwave engineering

Benefits:

• Base salary: $141,000–$202,000
• Additional compensation includes bonus, equity, and full benefits;
• Final salary will be based on your experience, location, and qualifications;
