Job Description
Job Title: Research Scientist – Pathfinding Architecture Development. Location: Goleta, CA, USA
As a Research Scientist on the Pathfinding Architecture Development team, you will help design and test the next generation of qubit systems; Your work will involve experimental operations, simulations, & the development of architectures that reduce error and improve speed and reliability; You will also collaborate with leading research institutes and contribute to the global quantum research community.
Responsibilities:
- Optimize qubit designs to enhance coherence while reducing crosstalk.
- Develop architectures for faster qubit gate operations, readout, and reset.
- Use programmatic tools to layout large-scale 2D qubit arrays;
- Perform electromagnetic simulations of circuit components;
- Collaborate with fabrication and measurement teams to implement and test new designs.
- Rapidly prototype and test new hardware ideas across real-world setups.
- Publish and share findings with the global research community and academic partners.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
- Hands-on experience with experimental operation of quantum systems
Preferred:
- Experience working with superconducting circuits
- Familiarity with qubit systems, couplers, and readout/reset circuits
- Knowledge of quantum circuit modeling;
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools;
- Background in RF or microwave engineering
Benefits:
- Base salary: $141,000–$202,000
- Additional compensation includes bonus, equity, and full benefits;
- Final salary will be based on your experience, location, and qualifications;
