Job Description

Job Title: Hardware Development Engineer, AWS CQC – Fabrication. Location: CA, Pasadena

The position involves hands-on work in a cleanroom environment to develop, improve, and maintain semiconductor fabrication and packaging processes; The schedule is typically 5 pm to 2 am, after daytime training.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, improve, and sustain fabrication and packaging processes for quantum processor chips.
• Perform hands-on tasks in a cleanroom using IC packaging equipment;
• Carry out dicing, wire bonding, and flip chip bonding steps for both product and development chips.
• Analyze inline metrology and electrical test data to support process improvements.
• Provide clear feedback to project leads to help optimize fabrication workflows.
• Work independently during assigned late-day and night hours after training;
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a safe and high-quality work environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or related field.
• Experience with at least two of the following tools or processes:
  • Flip chip bonding
  • Wire bonding
  • Saw dicing or stealth dicing
  • Electrical probing on wafer or die
• Strong engineering fundamentals, data analysis skills, and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively in a team.

Preferred:

• 4 or more years of industry or academic research experience.
• Basic programming skills such as Python, Julia, or MATLAB.
• Experience analyzing complex data and presenting actionable insights;
• Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication steps such as photolithography, etching, or thin film deposition.
• Understanding or experience with superconducting microwave devices or superconducting qubits.

Benefits and Compensation:

• Base salary ranges from 105,600 USD to 185,000 USD depending on market location and experience;
• Total compensation may include equity, sign-on payments, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
