Senior Application Developer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Application Developer. Location: Remote, United States

In this role, you will design and deliver advanced applications that run on D-Wave’s quantum computing systems. You will work closely with customers and internal teams to develop market-ready quantum applications that solve real-world business problems; This position offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge quantum technology and exposure to industry-leading customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop algorithms to solve complex optimization and computational problems using D-Wave quantum systems
  • Build and optimize quantum applications primarily using Python
  • Design and deliver custom applications for customer use or market release
  • Optimize performance and reliability of quantum-enabled applications;
  • Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to gather requirements and design tailored solutions
  • Ensure successful project delivery with measurable business impact
  • Become an expert in D-Wave’s cloud platform (LEAP) and open-source tools such as Ocean
  • Contribute to solving real-world problems that directly impact customer success

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience with Python
  • Strong background in probability, statistics, and applied mathematics
  • Experience implementing complex algorithms;
  • Experience using version control systems such as Git
  • Hands-on experience with optimization tools such as CPLEX or Gurobi
  • Proven ability to work directly with customers on complex technical problems
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Self-driven, adaptable, and passionate about high-quality software development

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent experience in
    • Computer Science
    • Operations Research
    • Mathematics
    • Statistics
    • Physics
    • Or a related technical field
  • Experience building or contributing to open-source applications
  • Familiarity with scientific Python libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, or NetworkX

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: USD 124,000 to 186,000 per year
  • Equity participation and ownership opportunities
