Job Description

Job Title: IBM Research Creative Developer Intern. Location: Yorktown Heights, NY - San Jose, CA - Cambridge, MA - Albany, NY
United States

Your role will focus on building interactive digital experiences that explain complex ideas in quantum computing, AI, and advanced technologies; You will collaborate closely with designers, researchers, and engineers as part of the IBM Research Creative Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop interactive prototypes, experiments, and visual experiences for web and research projects
  • Translate complex computing and quantum concepts into clear and engaging digital experiences
  • Collaborate with designers to implement motion, interaction, and storytelling
  • Support creative concepts using modern web and development technologies;
  • Experiment with emerging tools, frameworks, and interaction models
  • Work with cross functional teams including researchers, engineers, and creative professionals

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Quantum Physics, Quantum Computing, Creative Technology, Interactive Media, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience with at least one modern framework or creative coding library such as React, Three.js, D3, p5.js, or GSAP
  • Strong interest in design, technology, and storytelling;
  • Passion for quantum computing, AI, and semiconductor technologies
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas clearly and work across disciplines

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • Experience explaining or visualizing quantum physics or quantum computing concepts
  • Experience with data visualization, WebGL, or generative graphics;
  • Familiarity with motion design, animation, or interaction design principles
  • Comfort working with early stage ideas and ambiguous problem spaces

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Projected annual salary range: USD 78,624 to USD 144,144 (based on full time equivalent)
  • Eligibility for up to 8 paid holidays
  • Minimum of 56 hours of paid sick time
  • Access to the IBM Employee Stock Purchase Plan;
  • Paid family medical leave and disability benefits where required by law
  • Compensation and benefits may be adjusted for part time schedules
