Job Description

Job Title: Senior Solutions Architect – Optimization (Remote, USA)

D-Wave is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to lead the design and implementation of quantum optimization solutions for real-world business problems; This hands-on role involves working directly with customers and internal technical teams to map customer challenges to hybrid quantum solutions, using D-Wave’s advanced quantum computing systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy quantum optimization applications using D-Wave’s tools and technologies.
  • Engage with clients to understand their business challenges and consult on quantum-based solutions.
  • Lead requirements gathering, model complex use cases, and oversee prototype development and testing.
  • Translate mathematical optimization models into efficient Python-based solutions;
  • Collaborate with product and tools teams to provide feedback and help shape future platform features.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal teams and external clients;
  • Present technical content effectively to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or PhD in Operations Research, Data Science, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with Python; familiarity with libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, NetworkX.
  • Strong knowledge of optimization methods and tools (e.g., CPLEX, Gurobi).
  • Experience working with external customers in a consultative or delivery role;
  • Deep understanding of mathematical modeling and hybrid quantum optimization.
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as Git;
  • Ability to translate complex problems into scalable software applications.
  • U.S. citizenship or ability to pass U.S. government security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Experience in industries such as manufacturing, logistics, or retail.
  • Exposure to production deployment of optimization software solutions;
  • Interest in and understanding of quantum computing, particularly annealing-based quantum systems.
