Staff Accountant

Job Description

Job Title: Staff Accountant. Location: College Park, Maryland, USA

Job Type: Full-Time (Hybrid / On-site with remote flexibility)

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including payroll accruals for US and international entities
  • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts including Fixed Assets, Prepaid Expenses, and Accruals
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to estimate and record unbilled expenses
  • Record RSU and stock-based compensation data in collaboration with Payroll and Equity teams

Cash Management and Reconciliations

  • Perform daily cash monitoring and transaction categorization in ERP systems (NetSuite)
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation

Audit and Compliance Support

  • Support external auditors during year-end audits by preparing required documentation and schedules
  • Maintain internal documentation of accounting processes
  • Support internal control compliance and financial accuracy

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1 to 3 years of professional accounting experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills;
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated

Preferred:

  • Experience with Big Four or national accounting firms
  • Familiarity with NetSuite ERP
  • Exposure to Dayforce or Papaya systems;
  • Strong understanding of accrual accounting processes
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and improve financial workflows
  • Strong problem-solving mindset
