Senior Manager, Accounting

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Manager, Accounting. Location: College Park, Maryland, USA (Hybrid, with a few remote workdays per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
  • Manage and review general ledger activities, including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, capitalized software, inventory, and other accounting areas.
  • Maintain ownership of SOX controls related to accounting close and general ledger processes;
  • Prepare and maintain audit documentation while supporting internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Collaborate with Financial Reporting, Tax, FP&A, and Treasury teams to support monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
  • Prepare and review management reporting packages, variance analyses, and supporting schedules for executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and external auditors.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
  • Support accounting integration activities related to acquisitions.
  • Improve accounting processes by implementing automation and scalable system enhancements.
  • Support the Office of the Global Controller on special projects and other accounting initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Active CPA designation.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • At least 3 years of public company accounting experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or management experience;
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience managing accounting close processes for public companies.
  • Experience using NetSuite.
  • Big Four or public accounting firm experience.
  • Experience working in SaaS, technology, or other high-growth companies.
  • Knowledge of ASC 842 lease accounting.
  • Familiarity with international GAAP to U.S. GAAP differences.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems and continuously improve accounting processes.
