Director, Revenue

Job Description

Job Title: Director, Revenue. Location: College Park, Maryland, United States (Remote or Hybrid option available)

Responsibilities:

Revenue Strategy and Deal Architecture

  • Act as the primary technical advisor to Sales, Deal Desk, and Legal teams during contract negotiations.
  • Structure commercial deals aligned with ASC 606 accounting standards and company objectives.
  • Support revenue strategy across complex quantum computing, networking, sensing, and security offerings.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing revenue team.
  • Build a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and career development.
  • Scale revenue operations to support global growth and acquisitions.

Revenue Recognition and Accounting Governance

  • Own revenue recognition for complex, multi-year hardware and service contracts.
  • Manage percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting and cost-to-cost modeling.
  • Lead estimate-at-completion (EAC) reviews and forecasting accuracy.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Ensure engineering milestones and cost data are accurately reflected in revenue recognition.
  • Partner with IT and business systems teams to optimize ERP and CRM platforms such as NetSuite and Salesforce.

Compliance and Audit Management

  • Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors on revenue matters.
  • Prepare technical accounting documentation and ensure SOX compliance.
  • Maintain audit-ready revenue processes and controls.

Mergers and Acquisitions

  • Lead revenue due diligence for acquisitions.
  • Integrate acquired contracts into company accounting frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 across post-merger operations.

Qualifications:

  • 12 to 15+ years of experience in revenue accounting or financial leadership roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA certification required.
  • Deep expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition standards;
  • Strong experience with long-term contract accounting and complex revenue models.
  • Proven ability to work with Sales and Legal teams on contract structuring.
  • Strong analytical skills in cost-to-cost modeling and revenue forecasting.

Preferred:

  • Experience at a large government contractor such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, or Leidos.
  • Background in Big 4 accounting firms with audit or technical advisory experience;
  • Familiarity with quantum computing or willingness to quickly learn technical quantum concepts.

  • Base salary range: $169,869 to $221,514 annually.

  • Travel requirement up to 10 percent.
