Job Description

Job Title: Software Engineer, Quantum Compiling. Location: Los Angeles, CA, USA or Goleta, CA, USA

As part of this mission, you will join the team working on software that turns logical quantum algorithms into fault-tolerant, low-level instructions that can run reliably on real quantum hardware; Your work will directly support efforts to scale quantum computation by addressing the challenges of noise, decoherence, & device imperfections.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build software that compiles logical quantum computations into low-level, fault-tolerant quantum programs.
• Write C++ and Python code that integrates with the quantum control stack.
• Work closely with research scientists on designing protocols and with engineers to ensure hardware-software compatibility.
• Support other projects related to quantum error correction, such as simulation tools, real-time syndrome decoders, and performance monitoring infrastructure.
• Help improve software engineering practices, maintain high code quality, and ensure thorough test coverage.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience in software development using languages like Python or C++.
• Experience with launching, testing, and maintaining software products, including designing software architecture.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Familiarity with quantum computing concepts and quantum error correction is a plus.

Compensation:

• Base salary: $141,000 – $202,000 (depending on location and experience)
• Includes bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
• Exact compensation details will be shared during the hiring process.

Location Flexibility: Applicants may select a preferred location between Los Angeles, CA, and Goleta, CA.
