Software Specialist, Support

Job Description

Job Title: Software Specialist, Support II. Location: Remote, United States (occasional travel required)

You will troubleshoot issues, manage accounts, contribute to documentation, and help ensure reliable access to D-Wave’s quantum systems; This position offers a unique opportunity to support the first generation of quantum developers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of D-Wave’s software tools and assist customers with issues ranging from low-level system behavior to high-level applications
  • Triage, troubleshoot, escalate, and resolve support requests in close collaboration with development and science teams
  • Administer internal and external customer accounts, ensuring correct access and configurations;
  • Create and maintain internal documentation and contribute to the public knowledge base
  • Support cross-functional projects that improve collaboration between support and technical teams
  • Adapt to flexible working hours during high-demand periods
  • Participate in an on-call rotation after training to handle urgent issues

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 2+ years in customer-facing software support, technical operations, or application support
  • Intermediate programming skills in Python, with ability to debug and read existing code
  • Strong communication and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Interest in math, physics, engineering, or software development
  • Eligibility for U.S. security clearances and background checks
  • Flexibility to support customers across North American time zones
  • Willingness to travel to Burnaby, BC (minimum twice per year) and occasionally to U.S. client sites

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Linux environments
  • Experience supporting cloud service platforms
  • Knowledge of tools such as ZenDesk, PagerDuty, and Atlassian products
