Job Description

Job Title: Staff Technical Program Manager - Quantum Applications. Location: Remote, United States - (Some roles may optionally be based in College Park MD or Bothell WA, but the posting states fully remote is allowed.)

You will guide complex projects from early ideas to full delivery; You will work with internal teams and customers to build next-generation quantum solutions, improve development processes and support the transition of research into production.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full process of creating quantum applications, including idea development, customer engagement, proposal writing, execution, delivery, documentation, and reporting.
  • Build and manage project plans, timelines, milestones, and deliverables across several teams.
  • Resolve competing priorities and drive clear communication across all stakeholders.
  • Participate directly in technical discussions and problem solving as needed;
  • Report project status to internal and external audiences using clear technical and non-technical language.
  • Guide the transition of research technology into production, including demonstrations and first-of-kind artifacts.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Contribute to technology and product roadmaps;
  • Improve operational processes to increase quality and reduce waste without slowing innovation.
  • Work with contracting, finance, legal, sales, and project teams to prepare proposals, documentation, and financial reports.
  • Support compliance with regulatory, fiscal, and intellectual property requirements;
  • Drive quality control and development processes such as standard work, CI/CD, version control, code reviews, and automated testing.
  • Lead recurring and ad-hoc meetings, manage calendars, and track action items.
  • Coordinate across projects to identify blockers and patterns.
  • Travel as needed to support customer success.

Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD in physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, or a BS with equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of professional experience as a Technical Program Manager in an innovation-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects across diverse stakeholders;
  • Experience working directly with customers on technical solutions.
  • Strong commitment to customer engagement and the ability to adapt to different communication and collaboration styles.
  • Expertise with project management tools such as GitHub, Jira, and SmartSheet;
  • Experience improving research tools and processes for commercial use.
  • Strong technical writing experience, including statistical methods, design of experiments, ML libraries, scripting, and technical documentation tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a growing team with changing responsibilities.

Preferred:

  • Working knowledge of quantum computing concepts and frameworks such as Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, TorchQuantum, and quantikz.
  • Experience as a TPM in fast-paced environments such as tech or startups.
  • Experience with Cloud, HPC, and GPGPU applications;
  • Experience transitioning prototypes into commercial products.
  • Experience in business-focused roles such as marketing, sales, or business development.
  • Experience with government proposals and contracts;
  • Domain experience in finance, healthcare, chemistry, computer vision, or operations research.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary range: 162,920 to 213,304 US dollars.
  • Total compensation includes base pay, bonus, equity, and a full benefits package;
  • Benefits include medical, dental, and vision plans, matching 401K, paid time off and holidays, parental and adoption leave, legal insurance, home internet stipend, and pet insurance.
