VP of Facilities

Job Description

Job Title: Vice President of Facilities. Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States (Hybrid/Remote)

The VP will ensure that all facilities are built, maintained, and operated safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with EHS and regulatory standards; This role combines strategic planning, engineering oversight, and operational leadership to support the scale-up of PsiQuantum’s quantum computer infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Define facility-related goals and strategies that align with PsiQuantum’s long-term objectives.
  • Partner with the executive team to support company-wide growth and infrastructure development.
  • Ensure global compliance with safety, environmental, and health (EHS) standards.

2. Operational Oversight

  • Oversee daily operations of Facilities and EHS departments at the Chicago site.
  • Develop and implement Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and EHS Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Lead the construction, expansion, and management of data centers, laboratories, cryoplants, and other technical facilities;
  • Evaluate facility performance and implement continuous improvement strategies.

3. Financial and Project Management

  • Manage and forecast budgets for real estate and EHS operations.
  • Control variable and fixed costs while maintaining operational excellence;
  • Lead vendor negotiations, contract management, and project timelines;
  • Secure government approvals and incentives for facility expansion projects.

4. Business Development and Innovation

  • Identify new facility-related business opportunities and partnerships.
  • Implement innovative tools to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.

5. Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor managers and senior staff across facilities and safety functions.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability, and professional development within teams.
  • Promote a positive work culture that emphasizes initiative and ownership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in facilities or engineering management, including 4+ years in leadership.
  • Proven knowledge of safety, compliance, and global loss prevention practices;
  • Experience managing technical facilities, including data centers and cryogenic environments.
  • Strong project management, vendor negotiation, and budget control skills.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • High emotional intelligence, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Willingness to be on call for facilities emergencies and to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience managing EHS teams.
  • Lease negotiation and contractor management experience.

Benefits / Instructions:

  • Competitive base salary range:
    • Chicago, IL: $250,000 – $310,000 USD
    • Elsewhere in the U.S.: $250,000 – $285,000 USD
  • Equity options and comprehensive benefits included.
