Job Description
Job Title: Algorithm Implementation Experimentalist, Quantum AI – Google. Location: Goleta, CA, USA
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate on experimental proposals and execution for internal and external users working on NISQ hardware.
 - Design and implement tools to support NISQ experiments, such as:
- Developing novel quantum gates
 - Enhancing calibration and benchmarking tools
 - Advancing error mitigation techniques
 
 - Participate in calibrating quantum hardware and improving automated re-calibration systems in collaboration with the calibration team.
 - Contribute to the broader scientific community through publishing and sharing research outcomes.
 
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
 - Strong programming background in Python;
 - Solid understanding of quantum mechanics and hands-on experience in quantum computing;
 - Familiarity with quantum error benchmarking techniques
 
Preferred:
- Experience with superconducting qubits
 - Knowledge of quantum simulation, error correction, and quantum processor theory
 - Proficiency in numerical methods and computational analysis;
 - Understanding of the practical limitations and costs of quantum computation;
 
Compensation:
- Base salary: $141,000–$202,000 (commensurate with experience and location)
 - Includes bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package
 
Additional:
- You will be part of a multidisciplinary research group with access to Google’s infrastructure and partnerships with global academic institutions;
 - Opportunities to publish and collaborate within and beyond Google Quantum AI.
