Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Research Scientist. Location: Pasadena, CA, USA

In this role, you will focus on developing, analyzing, and optimizing quantum algorithms for error-corrected quantum systems;You will also contribute to long-term strategy, collaborate across teams, and publish your research in top journals and conferences.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze, improve, and develop algorithms for fault-tolerant quantum computers
• Invent new quantum algorithms and identify application areas with high impact
• Collaborate with academic and internal teams on research projects;
• Provide expert guidance on quantum algorithms across the organization
• Work closely with the Quantum Error Correction team to align algorithmic and hardware capabilities
• Publish peer-reviewed research and present findings at major conferences
• Supervise and mentor research interns
• Lead high-impact research aligned with AWS's engineering goals

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Proven experience in quantum algorithms or closely related areas

Preferred:

• Research background in quantum error correction
• Ability to work effectively across cross-functional quantum teams

Compensation

• Base salary ranges from $143,300 to $247,600 per year, depending on location, experience, and qualifications
• May include equity, sign-on bonuses, and a full benefits package
