Job Title: Computational Science Intern – Job ID: 479. Location: Broomfield, CO or Brooklyn Park, MN
Responsibilities:
- Apply scientific and computational expertise to solve advanced ion transport challenges
- Refine, optimize, and restructure existing numerical tools;
- Collaborate with the numerical physics leader to define project goals and execute key research initiatives
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program
- Expected graduation in 2026 or later;
- Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, green card holder, or individual with asylum/refugee status)
- Must not be a national of the People’s Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen (per U.S. Government requirements)
Preferred:
- Actively pursuing a degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, or related field
- Proficiency in compiled programming languages (C, Fortran, Java, Rust)
- Experience integrating compiled libraries with Python (ctypes, f2py)
- Familiarity with modeling physical processes such as electrostatics;
- Knowledge of Git or similar version control and deployment tools
- Public-facing code samples through repositories, coursework, or research projects
- Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and initiative-taking skills
- Clear communication and interpersonal abilities
Compensation & Benefits:
- Hourly pay: $27 – $36 (non-incentive eligible)
- Housing stipend of up to $1000/month for candidates outside the state
