Job Description
Job Title: Buyer - Quantum Hardware, Quantum Communications and Networking. Location: Pasadena, CA, USA
Responsibilities:
- Manage procurement activities for quantum computing research and development programs.
- Source and purchase heavy machinery, laboratory supplies, testing equipment, capital assets, chemicals, scientific equipment, and vacuum systems.
- Create and manage purchase orders, blanket purchase orders (BPOs), and related procurement documentation.
- Support Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Information (RFIs) processes;
- Participate in supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management activities.
- Coordinate non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and vendor onboarding processes.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with engineering, development, finance, legal, and import/export teams.
- Coordinate procurement activities across multiple internal and external stakeholders;
- Support engineering and development teams in obtaining critical materials and equipment.
- Communicate project updates and procurement status to stakeholders and leadership.
Process Improvement:
- Improve procurement processes, operational efficiency, and scalability.
- Lead initiatives focused on technology, operations, and process improvements;
- Develop and maintain procurement metrics and reporting systems.
- Identify opportunities to optimize purchasing workflows and supplier relationships.
Program Support:
- Support procurement requirements for quantum hardware and networking development projects.
- Assist in managing multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and procurement procedures.
Qualifications:
- Experience in procurement, supply chain management, inventory management, contract management, lease administration, or operations.
- Experience using procurement systems and financial applications.
- Experience creating metrics and presenting data.
- Experience improving operational processes and scalability.
- Hands-on experience leading process, technology, or operational improvement initiatives.
- Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Preferred:
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Willingness to learn proprietary procurement and operational systems.
- Previous experience in procurement, shared services, BPO environments, or program management.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and build productive working relationships.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base Salary: $70,400 - $94,000 per year
- Additional compensation may include:
