Job Description
Job Title: CMP Development Engineer. Location: Albany, New York, United States
In this role, you will focus on semiconductor process and equipment development that supports IBM’s leadership in quantum computing, AI, and advanced technologies; You will join a team of hardware developers dedicated to maintaining and advancing semiconductor processes for cutting-edge computing.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and qualify state-of-the-art 300mm semiconductor process equipment.
- Collaborate with equipment vendors, fab operations, and process teams to ensure tool health and performance.
- Use tools such as web-based statistical process control (wSPC), SiView, and other wafer analysis software to collect, manage, and analyze data.
- Assess process windows, design experiments (DOE), and implement continuous improvements to stabilize processes.
- Design and execute experiments to develop CMP processes for advanced semiconductor technologies;
- Partner with equipment vendors, material vendors, and internal IBM teams to drive process development and data package creation.
- Stay up to date with industry research and semiconductor technology advancements;
- Contribute to intellectual property generation and support IBM’s patenting efforts.
- Communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and document findings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, physics, materials science, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in semiconductor process equipment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools such as Slack.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in a related field.
- Experience with CMP tools, including recipe development and fab operations.
- Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication process flows;
- Experience in project management.
- Familiarity with material analysis and measurement techniques.
