Job Description
Job Title: Ion Trap Fabrication Intern. Location: Plymouth, MN, USA. Compensation: $33 – $40 per hour + housing stipend (up to $1000/month for out-of-state candidates)
This internship provides hands-on experience in microfabrication, device characterization, and process optimization within a collaborative research environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and optimizing microfabrication processes for ion trap devices.
- Support integration of novel materials into fabrication workflows.
- Perform device characterization using tools such as SEM, electrical testing, and other measurement techniques.
- Analyze process data and contribute to improvement strategies;
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, results, and findings.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including design, metrology, and device testing groups.
Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in a graduate program.
- Expected graduation date of 2026 or later;
- Experience with materials characterization tools and data analysis.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
- U.S. citizenship required due to contractual obligations.
Preferred:
- Pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
- Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and microfabrication techniques such as photolithography, etching, and deposition.
- Prior exposure to ion trap or quantum device technologies is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay range: $33 – $40 per hour (based on skills, education, and experience).
