Job Description

Job Title: Manager, Design Automation. Location: Palo Alto, California, United States

This position combines photonic design, software engineering, and foundry enablement to ensure scalable and reliable automation for the company’s silicon photonics systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in photonic design tools, software architecture, and project management.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the architecture and management of photonic design and tapeout software infrastructure.
• Work closely with design, layout, integration, and verification teams to streamline the design automation workflow.
• Coordinate and run software development sprints to meet project deadlines.
• Support layout and design teams through the tapeout phase and ensure quality across all stages.
• Facilitate collaboration among foundry, process, circuit design, layout, and testing teams to achieve seamless photonic circuit implementation.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years in a similar role, preferably in photonic or semiconductor design environments.
• Proven experience with silicon photonic manufacturing and foundry tapeouts.
• Strong Python development background, especially in automation and tooling.
• Hands-on experience managing CI/CD systems such as GitLab.
• Experience in cross-functional project management and delivery.

Benefits and Compensation:

• Competitive base salary:
  • Bay Area Range: $195,000 – $205,000 USD
  • U.S. Range: $160,000 – $175,000 USD
