Job Description
Job Title: Location: Bothell, Washington, United States (with some remote work options available).
Responsibilities:
- Design, analyze, build, test, and integrate mechanical systems for quantum computers.
- Develop prototypes, perform design iterations, and ensure mechanical systems meet required specifications;
- Design enclosures to protect quantum computing components from environmental factors such as thermal fluctuations and vibrations;
- Conduct system dynamics modeling, including modal analysis, thermal stresses, and failure mechanisms to optimize system performance.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including atomic physicists and engineers, to influence and build cutting-edge quantum hardware.
- Engage with suppliers and supply chain partners to manage risks and support critical hardware development;
Qualifications:
- Required: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design, particularly with rack-mounted electronics enclosures, thermal management, and hardware testing.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical analysis and design tools such as SolidWorks, ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS IcePak, and COMSOL.
- Strong background in structural and thermal engineering, vibration analysis, and integration in lab environments;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to collaborate across disciplines.
- Preferred: M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field;
- 5-10 years of industry experience, especially in packaging and thermal management for data centers.
- Experience working with complex optical systems and free-space optical components.

- Compensation: Base salary range of $96,876 - $126,836, with a variable bonus and equity component.
