Optical Packaging Validation Engineer

Position: Optical Packaging Validation Engineer. Location: Milpitas, California, United States‍

‍As an Optical Packaging Validation Engineer, you will characterize and qualify fiber-to-chip optical assemblies; You will work closely with packaging and validation teams to define metrics, improve yield, & ensure reliable performance of photonic chip packages.

Responsibilities:

• Define performance metrics for fiber-coupled optical packages
• Develop standardized validation processes for photonic chip packaging
• Streamline methods for tracking yield and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-functional design and experimental teams
• Provide feedback to packaging and design engineers

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or Material Science
• 3+ years of experience in optical fiber handling and measurements
• Experience with photonic integrated circuits and chip packaging
• 3+ years in optical measurement tools and analysis
• 5+ years working with FAU/optical connector to chip attachment
• Experience with semiconductor packaging and OSAT/EOL vendors
• Hands-on knowledge of fiber attach tooling, process flows, and data analysis

Preferred/Bonus Skills:

• 4+ years in optical characterization of photonic components
• Familiarity with FA and 8D failure resolution methods
• Background in yield and quality metrics for optical and mechanical systems
