Job Description
Job Title: Quantum Computing Scientist. Location: Broomfield, CO (On-site, with up to 2 days/week remote option)
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with theorists and experimentalists to understand and support the trapped-ion QCCD quantum computer architecture.
- Design and optimize quantum error correction codes tailored to hardware constraints;
- Inform hardware development by aligning it with the needs of error correction strategies.
- Define system-level requirements such as error rates and classical computing resources to support fault tolerance.
- Work with algorithm teams to explore practical uses of quantum error correction in the near term;
- Publish technical findings in journals and present at conferences to share innovative developments.
- Contribute to the development of architectural roadmaps for scalable, fault-tolerant quantum computing.
Qualifications:
- Completed PhD before joining the role.
- Must be a U.S. person: U.S. citizen, green card holder, or refugee/asylee.
- Cannot be a citizen of the People's Republic of China or Russia unless also a U.S. citizen, due to U.S. national security requirements.
Preferred:
- PhD in Physics or Computer Science with a focus on quantum error correction.
- Experience working directly with experimental physicists and quantum hardware systems.
- Background in quantum computing theory, including algorithms or diagnostics;
- Familiarity with trapped-ion quantum computers.
