Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Information and Error Correction Theorist. Location: Santa Barbara, California, United States

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct cutting-edge research in quantum information science, quantum error correction, and fault-tolerant computing.
  • Work collaboratively with hardware and software teams to translate theoretical models into practical quantump processor designs.
  • Publish high-impact scientific results in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at major conferences;
  • Contribute to IBM’s broader quantum computing roadmap through innovative theoretical insights.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A strong publication record demonstrating impactful research in quantum computing theory;
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in quantum information science or a related domain.

Preferred:

  • Over 15 years of experience in quantum error correction, fault tolerance, quantum algorithms, or information theory.
  • Experience collaborating with experimental or software development teams;
  • Some programming experience in Python or quantum computing frameworks is a plus.
