Quantum Laboratory Engineer

Job Description

Position: Quantum Laboratory Engineer. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States

Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain cryostats, including mechanical and wiring modifications.
• Assemble and test active electronic components and magnetic shielding.
• Conduct DC and cryogenic testing using automated Python scripts.
• Troubleshoot test setups and evaluate ESD-sensitive components;
• Use advanced lab equipment such as vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and frequency synthesizers.
• Maintain component inventories and ensure clean lab procedures;
• Collaborate with research scientists and senior engineers on platform development.
• Document procedures, results, and contribute to technical presentations and reports.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in laboratory environments working with cryogenic systems and test equipment.
• Basic programming proficiency (preferably Python) for test automation and data collection;
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience in superconducting quantum devices, quantum lab systems, or microwave engineering.
• Experience interfacing analog microwave environments with computer-controlled systems;
• Familiarity with digital-to-analog and analog-to-digital conversion in experimental setups.
