Quantum Research Engineer - BS / MS

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Research Engineer, Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, California, USA

This role supports the development of scalable, fault tolerant quantum processor systems. The position requires strong experience in cryogenic mechanical design, simulation, and full product development cycles.

Responsibilities:

• Design high density packaging solutions for quantum processor units
• Develop cryogenic mechanical systems for signal conditioning sub-assemblies
• Design cryogenic signal delivery systems for quantum processors
• Use simulation driven methods to reduce electromagnetic interference in qubit environments
• Improve thermal performance and EMI mitigation in cryogenic systems
• Lead full product development cycles from requirements to final delivery;
• Prepare design reports, conduct design reviews, and document assembly and testing processes
• Participate in requirements, design, and test reviews
• Collaborate with cross functional engineering and research teams
• Define and refine engineering standards and processes
• Work in a fast paced, innovation driven environment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Technology, Science, Robotics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related field
• Experience in cryogenic mechanical design
• Experience managing full product development lifecycles
• Experience with design for manufacturing;
• Knowledge of finite element analysis including thermal, mechanical, and electromagnetic simulations
• Experience with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks
• Strong understanding of cryogenic mechanical engineering theory and practical implementation
• Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Physics
• Experience in quantum hardware development
• Experience with quantum processor packaging;
• Knowledge of RF and microwave engineering principles
• Knowledge of PCB design and manufacturing
