Quantum Signal & Mechanical Scientist / Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Quantum Signal Integrity and Mechanical Packaging Scientist / Engineer. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York, United States

This role focuses on maintaining high signal integrity, shielding, and system reliability as quantum processors grow toward fault-tolerant quantum computing; The position requires close collaboration with physicists, engineers, and technicians across research and engineering teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the scale-up of superconducting quantum processors while maintaining signal integrity and system reliability
  • Design and improve cryogenic microwave signal delivery systems
  • Work with dilution refrigerators and low-temperature systems required for superconducting materials
  • Collaborate with physicists, engineers, and technicians to solve system-level challenges
  • Contribute to mechanical and electrical assembly design for complex quantum systems;
  • Communicate technical results through written reports, journal articles, and presentations

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience with cryogenic microwave signal delivery or similar systems
  • Hands-on experience with dilution refrigerators or 4K cryogenic systems;
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentations

Preferred:

  • Doctorate (PhD) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Simulation experience using HFSS or similar microwave simulation software
  • At least 4 years of experience in a superconducting electronics laboratory
  • Experience working with qubits and performing measurements such as T1, T2, and crosstalk
  • Mechanical design experience with complex assemblies and thermal expansion challenges
