Job Description
Job Title: Senior Research Scientist, Electromagnetic Modeling – Quantum (Goleta, CA, USA)
Responsibilities:
- Conduct electromagnetic modeling of superconducting quantum chips and packaging.
- Use EM simulation tools (e.g., HFSS) to predict quantum gate fidelities.
- Analyze coupling and chip/package modes to optimize quantum circuit performance.
- Investigate surface loss contributions and model qubit T1 budgets;
- Develop and maintain simulation software and connect EM results to design workflows;
- Collaborate with experimental teams to integrate simulation findings into fabrication processes.
- Present findings internally and externally through presentations and publications.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, or related field.
- Practical experience in electromagnetic modeling or electromagnetism theory.
- Experience working with superconducting qubits.
Preferred:
- Expertise in computational electromagnetics and microwave component design.
- Background in condensed matter physics;
- Familiarity with qubit layout, gate operations, and quantum verification methods;
- Programming skills in Python and experience working collaboratively with experimental teams.
