Job Title: Research Scientist – QPU Characterization. Location: Yorktown Heights, New York. Job Type: Full-time / Research Fellowship
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement characterization protocols for Josephson junction-based qubit devices.
- Develop scalable testing methodologies to assess device yield and performance prior to cryogenic testing.
- Innovate predictive assessment architectures for large-scale multi-qubit systems;
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams on quantum processor development.
- Publish high-impact research and contribute to IBM’s patent portfolio;
- Represent IBM in the academic and professional quantum computing community.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field;
- Proven experience in device characterization and research publication.
- Proficiency with Python or similar programming language.
Preferred:
- Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related discipline.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in device physics, IC design, and electrical testing.
- Familiarity with large-scale wafer probing systems (200/300mm stations);
- Background in fault-tolerant quantum computing or superconducting device testing.
