Job Description

Job Title: Research Scientist, Design and Simulation, AWS Center for Quantum Computing. Location: San Francisco, California, USA

The position requires strong research ability, solid engineering foundations, and the ability to work across scientific and technical teams.

Responsibilities:

• Design and simulate novel superconducting quantum devices and architectures
• Develop qubits, readout systems, and control schemes for advanced quantum processors
• Apply scientific principles to solve complex engineering and product challenges;
• Perform quantitative analysis using large datasets to support research decisions
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and technicians across disciplines;
• Communicate research results clearly through documentation and presentations
• Maintain high standards of organization, accuracy, and scientific rigor

Qualifications:

• PhD in a quantitative field, or MS degree with at least 1 year of quantitative research experience
• Experience applying scientific concepts to real-world business or product problems
• Experience with data analysis tools such as R, SAS, or MATLAB;
• Experience using SQL databases to manage and analyze large datasets

Preferred:

• PhD in operations research, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, or a related field
• Experience with forecasting methods and data mining techniques
• Proven record of original scientific contributions or advanced software development

Compensation and Benefits:

• Base salary range: $113,000 to $195,200 per year, depending on location and experience
• Additional compensation may include equity, sign-on bonuses, and performance-based pay;
