Job Description
Job Title: Process Integration/Lithography Engineer. Location: Albany, NY, USA
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with internal component teams to ensure all hardware requirements are met in delivered chips and circuits.
- Develop and innovate photonic fabrication process integration schemes, focusing on ultra-low loss components.
- Collaborate with internal and external engineers to refine fabrication procedures for photonic quantum computing chips.
- Work with foundry partners to improve lithography approaches while balancing fabrication constraints;
- Deliver integrated photonic quantum chips and circuits with multiple active and passive components.
Lithography and Tapeout Ownership
- Own and manage the full photolithography and tapeout process from layout to final wafer patterning.
- Handle GDS design files and manage tapeout cycles with external mask vendors.
- Define specifications for OPC aggressiveness, dummy fill density, and Optical Rules Check targets.
- Develop and enforce lithography design rules and provide design-for-manufacturing feedback.
- Optimize scanner settings including numerical aperture and illumination conditions;
- Execute focus and exposure optimization, refine photoresist processes, and establish metrology baselines.
- Stay updated on advancements in photonics fabrication and patterning technologies.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in semiconductor or photonics foundry environments.
- Experience working with MES systems and managing fabrication lots;
- Familiarity with metrology and failure analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, AFM, ellipsometry, XRD, SIMS, and Raman spectroscopy.
- Knowledge of photonic components such as waveguides, beamsplitters, resonators, and interferometers.
- Hands-on expertise with advanced lithography tools and 300mm scanners.
- Experience managing tapeout cycles and reviewing OPC/ORC verification data.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
- Experience developing lithography modules within mature fabrication processes.
- Strong understanding of mask writing technologies and lithographic imaging physics.
- Experience with SiView MES and full product development cycles from R&D to production.
- Background in photonic quantum computing hardware development.
- Proven experience delivering integrated photonics products;
- Experience working in fabless environments.
- Preference for candidates based in or near Albany, NY.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Base salary range: $110,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience and location.
