Job Title: Staff Technical Program Manager. Locations: Boston, MA; Bothell, WA; College Park, MD; Remote, US
IonQ is building the world’s most powerful quantum computers using trapped-ion technology; Our mission is to move beyond the limits of classical physics and computing to open new possibilities in medicine, materials science, finance, AI, cryptography, and more.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Program Leadership: Lead program planning, execution, and alignment with company objectives and product roadmaps. Identify risks early and implement mitigation plans.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Oversee fabrication schedules, budgets, and deliverables with external foundries and vendors such as imec. Build and maintain strong vendor relationships;
- Technical Integration: Coordinate trap fabrication and integrated photonics technologies, ensuring seamless integration into IonQ’s systems.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with TPMs, technical staff, and multidisciplinary teams to manage execution, resource allocation, and milestone delivery.
- Project Execution: Apply program management methods to manage timelines, budgets, and risks. Report progress and issues to stakeholders regularly.
- Team Leadership: Provide clear expectations, assign tasks, resolve obstacles, and manage schedules for critical projects;
- Communication: Maintain transparent communication with stakeholders regarding program status, risks, and mitigation.
- Travel: Up to 20% travel to College Park, MD or Bothell, WA to support team activities.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in Technical Program Management with a proven record of managing complex projects, preferably in government or advanced technology.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience guiding cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with project management tools (GitHub, Jira/Confluence, MS Project, SmartSheet).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail;
- Knowledge of quantum computing principles and technologies.
- U.S. Person status required for export control compliance.
Preferred:
- PMP or related certification.
- Direct experience with quantum hardware or computing projects.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary range: $141,670 – $185,482 plus bonus and equity.
