Job Description
Job Title: Site Reliability Engineer Intern. Location: Tucson, AZ; San Jose, CA; Houston, TX
This internship offers hands-on experience working with production infrastructure, automation, and reliability practices alongside experienced engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining system reliability across production environments
- Support automation efforts for deployment, system operations, and infrastructure management
- Help troubleshoot system incidents and reduce downtime;
- Collaborate with development and operations teams on reliability improvements
- Contribute to technical documentation and operational processes
- Learn and apply best practices in observability, performance tuning, and capacity planning
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Basic understanding of Linux or Unix systems
- Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts;
- Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Python or Go
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in progress
- Exposure to container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus or Grafana
Benefits and Compensation:
- Salary range (annualized, full-time equivalent):
- Minimum: USD 52,900
- Maximum: USD 97,020
- Up to 8 paid holidays for eligible employees
- Minimum of 56 hours of paid sick time;
- Eligibility for IBM Employee Stock Purchase Plan
- Paid family medical leave and disability benefits where required by law
- Compensation and benefits may be prorated based on internship schedule
