Job Description

Job Title: Staff Research Scientist Manager, Quantum Gates. Location: Goleta, California, USA

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a cross-functional team developing high-fidelity quantum gates.
• Oversee benchmarking initiatives to evaluate the impact of gate improvements on quantum algorithms.
• Design and implement measurement strategies to characterize quantum gate performance;
• Collaborate with theoretical physicists to interpret experimental results and develop accurate models.
• Analyze data and recommend enhancements to future quantum processor designs.

Qualifications:

• PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Chemistry, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in managing technical or scientific teams;
• Hands-on experience with calibration and control of experimental hardware systems.
• At least two scientific publications submitted to journals, conferences, or public repositories.

Preferred:

• Experience with qubit measurement and theoretical modeling of quantum systems.
• Background in electromagnetic simulations and RF/microwave engineering.
• Familiarity with collaborative software tools and environments;
• Proven ability to contribute to or maintain software suites used in research environments.

Benefits:

• Base salary range: $197,000–$291,000 (based on role, level, and location).
• Additional compensation includes bonuses, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package.
