Job Description
Job Title: Staff Technical Program Manager – System Operations and Resilience. Locations: Bothell, WA; College Park, MD; Remote (US-based)
In this role, you will oversee sustaining engineering programs, manage cross-functional initiatives, and help improve the reliability and scalability of IonQ’s commercial quantum systems; You will serve as the bridge between operations, engineering, and manufacturing, ensuring operational excellence and resiliency across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and enhance sustaining engineering programs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional hardware and software teams to integrate operational feedback into system designs.
- Support the launch of new quantum systems and manage related projects;
- Facilitate communication across internal and external stakeholders, providing clear program updates.
- Oversee project planning, risk management, and schedule adjustments;
- Support incident management and participate in incident reviews to improve system resilience.
- Travel up to 20% to company sites in College Park, MD; Bothell, WA; and Basel, Switzerland.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum 8 years of Technical Program Manager experience, with exposure to hardware or mixed hardware-software teams.
- Experience with System Operations, sustaining engineering, or production support teams.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to learn high-level technical concepts quickly;
- Excellent organizational and written communication skills.
- Experience working in dynamic environments with multiple concurrent projects.
- Customer-facing experience preferred;
- Knowledge of quantum computing concepts and resiliency practices (e.g., incident management) is a plus.
- Software engineering background or prior collaboration with software teams is desirable.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary range: $141,670 – $185,482, depending on experience and market factors.
