AI & Emerging Tech Specialist

Job Description

Job Title: Principal AI & Emerging Tech Specialist. Location: Jessup, Maryland, Arlington, Virginia, Herndon, Virginia, USA

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and expand customer relationships by identifying mission-focused use cases for generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning at the edge, quantum computing, and other emerging technologies.
  • Drive adoption of AWS AI and emerging technology solutions across U.S. Defense and Intelligence agencies.
  • Develop go-to-market strategies in collaboration with AWS account teams and partners.
  • Work closely with customer executives and technical teams to design integrated solutions using AWS data, analytics, AI, quantum, and cloud technologies.
  • Guide customers in adopting DataOps, MLOps, and AI governance best practices to operationalize AI securely at scale.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on AI, foundation models, generative AI, and AWS emerging technology services;
  • Meet regularly with government executives and mission owners to understand technical requirements, existing architectures, and future technology roadmaps.
  • Negotiate and close large, complex AI and emerging technology opportunities across multiple government organizations.
  • Collaborate with AWS engineering, hardware, software, professional services, and technical program management teams to align solutions with customer needs.
  • Represent customer feedback to AWS product teams by identifying feature requests, regional requirements, and mission-specific use cases.
  • Support marketing initiatives and public policy engagements that position AWS as a trusted emerging technology partner.
  • Build relationships with defense organizations and professional associations to strengthen AWS leadership in AI and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of technology platform sales experience.
  • Strong understanding of government IT infrastructure, cloud services, data centers, and cloud adoption.
  • Experience working with both technical and non-technical teams;
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance or higher.
  • Strong communication, customer engagement, and business development skills.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of software, cloud, or SaaS sales experience selling to executive leadership.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies.
  • Knowledge of analytics, cybersecurity, storage, DevOps, application development, or machine learning.
  • Experience analyzing data and providing business recommendations.
  • Experience negotiating and managing complex business agreements.
  • Hands-on experience with generative AI, foundation models, or agentic AI solutions.
  • Proven ability to build new business areas or emerging technology practices from the ground up.

  • Base salary of $176,100 to $238,200 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and work location.

  • This position supports AWS Worldwide Public Sector's National Security Emerging Technology team.
  • The role focuses on AI, generative AI, machine learning, quantum computing, advanced computing, and cloud technologies.
  • Candidates must be U.S. Citizens;
  • Candidates must currently hold an active Top Secret Security Clearance and be eligible to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
