Job Title: Buyer II – Quantum Hardware Procurement, Amazon Center for Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, CA, USA
Job Type: Full-Time, Entry Level
Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end procurement lifecycle including RFIs, RFPs, purchase orders, vendor onboarding, invoicing, and contract negotiations.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies for quantum hardware, lab equipment, cryogenic systems, superconducting components, and scientific instrumentation.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders including engineering, finance, legal, and global trade compliance teams.
- Evaluate vendors, negotiate pricing, and ensure delivery timelines align with R&D requirements.
- Create and manage purchase documentation including NDAs, contracts, and compliance records;
- Work closely with research and engineering teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations for quantum computing projects.
- Analyze procurement data and build metrics to improve cycle time, efficiency, and cost control.
- Identify risks in supply chain processes and escalate or resolve issues as needed.
- Support continuous process improvements in procurement systems and workflows.
- Communicate decisions, insights, and updates to stakeholders and leadership teams.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to hiring processes when required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in procurement, supply chain, vendor management, or contract negotiation.
- Experience working across cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders;
- Familiarity with procurement systems such as Coupa or equivalent platforms.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
Preferred:
- Experience in AI tools or data-driven decision-making.
- Background in trade compliance, logistics, customs, or supply chain operations.
- Experience presenting to senior leadership.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn internal systems;
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, program management, or related fields.
- Proven ability to improve processes and drive operational efficiency.
Benefits and Compensation:
- Salary range: $73,300 – $128,300 annually (USA, CA, Pasadena).
