Customer Success Director

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Customer Success Director. Location: College Park, Maryland (Hybrid/Remote considered)

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers leveraging IonQ’s trapped-ion quantum computers for real-world applications.
  • Lead onboarding of new customers, ensuring successful adoption and alignment with business goals;
  • Design and deliver tailored training programs, workshops, and curricula to grow the user base and expand quantum expertise across industries;
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Applications Researchers, Engineering, Product, Marketing) to optimize customer experience and inform product development.
  • Support customers with insights on quantum optimization, ML, and chemistry workflows using IonQ’s hardware;
  • Develop technical documentation, training materials, and scalable education modules.
  • Represent IonQ at industry events, government panels, and standards bodies.
  • Travel occasionally (up to 30%) to support global customers and participate in key industry forums.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Operations Research, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical, customer-facing roles with a proven track record.
  • 3+ years of experience developing training materials and technical enablement content.
  • Strong command of Python and quantum SDKs such as Qiskit, Cirq, or PennyLane;
  • Working knowledge of Jupyter Notebook, Google Colab, or equivalent platforms;
  • Solid understanding of quantum hardware-software integration, especially trapped-ion systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, adaptable for both technical and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience educating diverse users and mentoring others in quantum topics.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with quantum information science and hardware-specific performance tuning.
  • Knowledge of business strategies in subscription-based models;
  • Proven ability to engage with stakeholders across industries (e.g., finance, pharma, AI).
