Financial Staff Accountant

Job Description

Job Title: Financial Reporting Staff Accountant. Location: College Park, MD (remote most days, with occasional office visits)

We are seeking a Financial Reporting Staff Accountant to join our growing team; This role supports the preparation of financial reports, SEC filings, and equity accounting while contributing to a high-growth, high-tech environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, along with quarterly earnings releases.
  • Support financial statement disclosures by preparing schedules, performing analytical reviews, and coordinating with internal teams and subsidiaries.
  • Assist with quarterly reviews and the annual audit process, working directly with external auditors.
  • Compile data for quarterly equity rollforward and earnings per share calculations;
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to equity, warrants, and investments.
  • Research and apply accounting guidance on significant transactions.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Payroll, and other cross-functional teams to manage and reconcile equity data.
  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance by performing key internal controls;
  • Help design and improve processes for efficiency, automation, and scalability.
  • Assist in implementing new systems and technology within the finance function.
  • Provide backup support for other accounting roles when required.
  • Contribute to special projects within the Financial Reporting team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 1–2 years of professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects effectively.

Preferred:

  • CPA certification.
  • Experience with SEC reporting.
  • Background in a Big Four or national accounting firm.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary range: $71,300 – $92,978, plus performance bonus and equity.
