Engineering & NPI Buyer

Job Description

Job Title: Senior Engineering and NPI Buyer.  Location: Milpitas, California, United States

This role focuses on supplier selection, cost control, lead-time reduction, and on-time delivery while maintaining strong supplier relationships in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute purchases of engineering and NPI materials, components, assemblies, equipment, and services
  • Ensure purchases meet cost, quality, quantity, and delivery targets
  • Monitor shipments and resolve delivery issues proactively
  • Review purchase requests for compliance with internal policies and procedures
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders accurately and on time;
  • Evaluate suppliers based on pricing, quality, reliability, capacity, and delivery performance
  • Act as a key contact between suppliers and internal teams for new projects
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms to drive cost savings and quality improvements
  • Solicit and analyze RFQs, RFPs, and supplier quotations
  • Track supplier performance and support qualification processes;
  • Resolve supplier issues related to pricing, quality, delivery, or invoicing
  • Collaborate closely with the supply chain team to improve cost, service, and quality
  • Prepare reports and updates as needed
  • Support additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field
  • At least 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain roles
  • Experience working in R and D or high-tech environments
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills;
  • Proven experience with expediting and delivery management
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment;
  • Experience using ERP systems, with NetSuite preferred
  • Familiarity with procurement tools and sourcing processes

Preferred:

  • Project management or schedule management experience
  • Experience supporting complex hardware or advanced technology programs

Salary Ranges:

  • U.S. Base Pay Range: $115,000 to $131,000 USD
  • Bay Area Pay Range: $155,000 to $170,000 USD
    Final compensation depends on experience, location, and qualifications.
