Facilities Engineer, Quantum Computing

Job Description

Job Title: Facilities Engineer – AWS Center for Quantum Computing. Location: Pasadena, California

Responsibilities:

• Maintain and execute preventive maintenance programs for high-performance facilities equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve failures in systems such as power distribution, cryogenics, and gas delivery.
• Manage external contractors and vendors to ensure work meets technical standards and compliance.
• Coordinate with internal research teams to support quantum system development projects;
• Maintain records, procedures, and spare parts inventory to ensure high equipment uptime.
• Provide on-call support after normal business hours and commute between multiple LA-based lab locations as required.

Qualifications:

• 2+ years in a mission-critical facilities environment.
• Experience with building management systems (e.g., Tridium Niagara Framework).
• Ability to lift and move up to 39 pounds independently; perform physical tasks such as kneeling, climbing, or crawling.

Preferred:

• Experience supporting labs in physics, engineering, or semiconductor environments (including cleanrooms, lasers, cryogenics, vacuum systems).
• Familiarity with data center equipment (chillers, UPS, air handling units).
• Technical training or military background in HVAC, electrical, or industrial automation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and organizational skills;
• Effective verbal and written communication; capable of working independently and cross-functionally.

• Competitive base salary ranging from $83,100 to $185,000 depending on experience and geographic location.
